That should be a good course on total SEO/SEM. I am considering going.

But, if you are just looking to learn about the copywriting aspect you will probably find a huge variance on what is the best way to go and I believe that first and foremost you should just write for your target market. After all, if no one likes your site and hates your copy, then a first page ranking really doesn’t matter.

The key really is to pay attention to the keywords you are optimizing for and write about that topic or subject and be sure to include the keyword a couple of times in the actual text.

If you are new to the field take on a couple of volunteer opportunities and document your success. You now have a portfolio of proof to back up your claims. Especially if you have letters of reference written from the people that you help without charge.

Of course, if you have such good SEO talents that people can see the difference in 15 days, then why not go it along at least on one project. Not only will this give you more experience, but you will be able to generate some side income if done right. Who knows, it could turn into an option that you do exclusively instead of working for anyone else at all.
