You will see the difference in applicants in the way they answer questions during job interview. I always include their work history as one of the topics we discuss during the interview process. Star players or what we call A players, would respond positively on these questions as they know that these are part of doing effective job interview techniques. They would love to talk about their past experiences working for the company as opposed to B players who would avoid talking about the issue.
I already have a gut feeling early on if they are fit to work in my SEO company. If they do not fit, I still give them a chance, I throw questions at them, just for them to be able to go through the interview. Ultimately, I do not want to waste their time as well, but I still want to give them a chance to open up about their application that is why I still do my best to accommodate them.
I often start with questions involving details about their work history. I also ask them about their work responsibilities, major challenges, accomplishments and the things they liked and disliked the most about their stay there. I ask them about their supervisors as well, their names and their feedback on each one.
Do not forget to ask two important questions when you are in a job interviewing session. I remembered asking a candidate to pick one supervisor and tell me what they like the most and the least about the person. I also want to find out the reason that he enjoyed working for them. I take their answers as a clue about their personality as well as an idea on how they would want to be managed. That is why I also ask about their preference in terms of receiving a job, whether they want it to be granular in approach or just to have an overview of the specific task.
Another concern is the way they get familiar with SEO services. Is it through videos, books or diagrams? This is because we do a lot of tasks using both Camtasia and ScreenFlow. The more familiar they are in using these screen recording software the better.
A crucial part of using these job interview techniques is to dig about their expertise. It is best not to have a set order on the questions that you will throw at them so they would not have an idea on the next question to answer. Questions like “What is your greatest strength?”, “If you have to choose, would you work alone in a task or with a team?”, “What is customer service?” Make sure to take note of their answers to these very important questions.
They must give me an idea that they care about customers in business. Part of their job is to make sure that they will over deliver to their customers because they are the ones who are putting food on the table. I get their thinking about this by asking a very broad question about business. I do this so that I will have an idea on how they will interpret the question based from their own experiences.
Do you want to hire people who are always driven and excited to do things for you? If so, then look for highly entrepreneurial people. This greatly benefits my business today because I got virtual assistants who truly cares about my business that they do their best to complete the tasks well. That is the main reason that you should only get these type of people in your team.
I hire slowly and fire quickly. That is my personal approach in hiring virtual assistants. I use effective questions that will bring out the best in them as part of these job interview techniques for online businesses. This will also enable you to select the best players for your team to help you succeed on your online endeavors.
