Internet marketing question…?

by admin on May 11, 2010

So, what are your general thoughts on internet marketing using :

• Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
• Paid Search Marketing
• Social Media Promotion
• Banner Advertising
• Video-Based Messaging
• Podcasting

Also, is anyone familiar with a company called Optey out of Boston, MA? Please advise folks, thanks.

SEO gives you the best return on marketing investment in the long term as you’re getting free organic traffic.
Paid Search is the fastest traffic generation method online today and is very measurable.
Social media promotion works best for certain types of products and services that benefit from word-of-mouth or viral marketing promotions.
Banner advertising works well for brand exposure purposes.
Podcasting helps you to engage the audience.

My favorite? Paid search and banner ads in the short term, SEO in the long run.

I prefer video marketing. Youtube is become the number two search engine, and with that kind of exposure, it is pretty much a requirement to have videos pushing your products. If you want to learn how to make videos for the web, check out my blog. http://videoforim.blogspot.com

These comments are all great. For video marketing, you can use third-parties to help create professional quality video (like http://silverdock.com/). You can also get started with homemade videos — the Flip camera and Creative Vado cameras do a decent job, for video marketing that doesn’t need to be professional quality. As a previous poster pointed out, YouTube is becoming a major search channel and so it’s a great way to promote.

I’m pretty negative on podcasting, I think the cost/benefit isn’t there and the mass audiences are not there (for most promotional purposes). If your business is based on entertainment / educational content to begin with and a podcast fits your content type, then it may be more useful.

Banner advertising is difficult to profit from. Better to focus on SEO. Plus, learning how to add anchor text that generates traffic to your backlinking structure.

Screen videoing is powerful also. Just get a free program for recording your videos ( use atnotes freeware to add a url to appear at the bottom of the videos ). Youtube gets lots of hits.

If you want a free internet marketing version of camstudio, try this link. I just tried it and it still works, don’t know how long this offer will exist, so try it now.
